Hello my dears! It’s an update week, hurray hurray!
Currently on my reading table??is a really spectacular work of common history: Eamon Duffy’s book??The Stripping of the Altars:??Traditional Religion in England, 1400-1580.??This doorstop-sized book contains chapters on different aspects of??how Christian practice manifested in the lives of ordinary people living in England leading up to the Reformation. Local saint cults and quasi-pagan traditions, the increasing spread of literacy and the availability religious literature in English, changes in how often people took Communion??or??confessed, and the ambitious piety??of middle-class diarist Margery Kempe.
If you are into that kind of thing, it will be your kind of thing, and I recommend it highly!
That sounds fantastic!
